The Town of Hudson Bay has a modern hospital, a medical and dental clinic, a public health clinic, a special care home for senior citizens and an ambulance service. A long care wing was added on to the hospital in 1998. It houses 15 long-term care and 2 respite beds. The former Lodge currently houses the HB and District Crisis Center, the optometrist, the chiropractor, massage therapist, and the Elks and Royal Purple Club House.
The Hospital was opened in 1988. The adjacent
medical clinic has offices currently staffed by four doctors, one
dentist, and the necessary support staff.
Elks and Royal Purple Pioneer Lodge Inc. is the
name of the senior citizens' home. The lodge was built in 1967 and
remodeled in 1981. The Pioneer Lodge was sold to the Elks and Order
of the Royal Purple in 1999. A new seniors' housing project was
also started and finished in 2000. Churchill Place houses 22 self-contained
units, two of which are 2 bedroom, a common area with kitchen and
the Housing Authority Office, and garden space for the gardeners
in the project.
Many senior citizens come to the Lodge from their
own residences to share in recreational activities and to receive
various basic health care services. A Meals on Wheels service is
available with lunches currently prepared at the Hudson Bay Health
Care Facility. There is also a local Home Care Board and Service.
