The Cordwood Bonspiel

Back in 1966 a unique opportunity was presented to the school children of Hudson Bay. It was the Cordwood Bonspiel! One hundred and thirty two school children took part in a one day tournament, "curling" with wooden blocks on five sheets of ice. This Annual Cordwood Bonspiel happens in March, with over 300 children from grades 3 to 7 making up 80 individual teams. They will play on 13 sheets of ice in the two day tournament. Trophies are awarded to the winners and runners up of the A, B, C and D events.
